Thomas R. Perl

Thomas R. Perl, P.E., Ph.D., is a registered and licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer specializing in automotive design performance, vehicle crashworthiness, accident reconstruction and development of advanced reconstruction techniques. His career in this field began in 1980 when he joined Warner Associates which later became Collision Safety Engineering. During his tenure, Dr. Perl has had extensive experience in vehicle component testing, full scale crash testing, vehicle component performance analysis, vehicle crashworthiness analysis, occupant kinematics, computer accident simulation and accident reconstruction. His accident reconstruction experience has included commercial and non-commercial vehicles, large animal impacts, rollovers, and numerous modes of single and multiple vehicle impacts. Before joining Warner Associates, Dr. Perl worked as a design engineer at Storage Technology Corporation. He has also been a part-time instructor at Brigham Young University.

Credentials & Professional Honors

Dr. Perl earned his B.S. and M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, in 1978. He completed his Doctoral in Mechanical Engineering at BYU in 1989. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Utah, a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama, and earned a certificate of graduation from Northwestern Traffic Institute in 1980.
